REVIEWS

In the world of publishing, it is surprisingly uncommon to find someone who can “do it all.” Sure, there are plenty of writers, editors, copyeditors, proofreaders… but they are rarely one and the same person. I know because I worked in publishing for decades.

Irene Panke Hopkins is a talented editor whose expertise and skills are matched only by her sparkling humor and upbeat, can-do attitude.

She can write like a dream. I’ve loved everything Irene has written over the years, from her funny and perceptive newspaper columns, essays and magazine articles to her captivating memoir-in-progress about her summers cruising the Inside Passage between Seattle and Prince Rupert [ – a project I hope to read in book form soon].

I have always enjoyed collaborating with Irene Panke Hopkins.

Her work has been featured in 48° North numerous times, and I look forward to featuring it again in the future.

She's a talented storyteller with a one-of-a-kind perspective. Irene's writing starts by drawing a reader in and leaves them empowered and inspired.

Just as important, her excellent communication and prompt follow-through make her a pleasure to work with.

JOE CLINE

Managing Editor
48º North Magazine

I worked with Irene Panke Hopkins when I was co-editing I Wanna Be Sedated: 30 Writers on Parenting Teenagers. Irene contributed one of our smash hit essays. I found in Irene an unwavering professional: Easy to communicate with, met every deadline, and was gracious throughout the editing process.

Irene also has a theatre background, so when we were promoting the book through public readings, she brought down the house.

I am a fan of Irene Panke Hopkins. I love reading her work. She illuminates everyday life in original, brave, quirky and often hilarious ways. Reading her essays is like being in the company of an excellent conversationalist, who you also happen to really, really like.
